| Saw Parade for the first time last week. I very much enjoyed it. I'm an historian and a former theater person, so it hits both of my favorite things, and did so beautifully, I think. But can someone talk to me about Old Red Hills of Home? I understood it, I think, as a show opener. But when the show closed with it, I was somewhat lost. Is the finale, a defeat? Lyrics that refuse to move forward masked in a stunning, moving score? Is that intentional? Am I being too literal? Missing something? |
