Shaiman harshly criticized Lloyd Webber's oeuvre in a 2002 Times interview:
''Now, 'Jesus Christ Superstar' completely changed my life,'' Shaiman says. ''But the stuff that came later, that's when I started losing interest. Everything about 'Cats' turned me off, especially the word 'Jellicle.' ''
Nice to see a supportive environment, indeed.
