| Did you see this production? And did you read Jesse's review? Artists inside the process of the play are allowed to have their opinions about their work and critics are allowed to criticize the work. Nothing in his review is inaccurate to what happens on stage. Some of Robert O'Hara's ideas were interesting, a lot of them undermined the play. This isn't the same as Ben Brantley missing the ball on a contemporary masterpiece like Caroline, or Change. This is a messy interrogation of a classic play that succeeds despite, not because of, the director. It's ok to feel that way! |
