Notice that she never says anything about her private time with hubby the Baker, yet they've been clearly trying to conceive a child for quite a while now. I think reading between the lines is a good idea here. Every time the Baker's Wife runs into Cinderella, all she wants to know about is the Prince - do you really think that given the chance encounter, all she does is kiss him?
The stage direction after the first half of "Any Moment" mentions that "he takes her into the glade." Just to kiss?
And the Prince's tone during the 2nd half of the duet (and the dialogue after) is definitely stereotypically post-coital.
As one director I worked with once suggested to the actress playing the Baker's Wife for the repeated "and kiss me"s at the top of "Moments In The Woods" - "WHERE does he kiss you? Maybe a different place on you each time??" :-) |
