| Alan: I believe I've asked you before, but it is worth revisiting in this thread: Did Joan Diener keep the same keys for Aldonza? She was my first, albeit in the London production (which I saw at 16). And to my ear, a happy young possessor of that two-album vinyl set, she sings some of the music differently than she did in the original. Notably "It's All the Same" and "Aldonza." I detected different switches into her head voice. (Maybe irrelevant in terms of keys? I've never been clear on that mix, and certainly some Evas sang Evita with different blends of the head and belt.) Diener's NYC and London iterations are not quite the same vocal performance. |
