So much rich historical explication here to absorb, independent of the narrower critique of Green (which by the end, frankly didn't interest me even half as much, as newsworthyas it may be as the letter's raison d'etre). I hope people who who admire the iconic play will read the entire letter. It's quite a piece of annotating scholarship, whatever one feels about specific grievances toward the NY Times's reviewers' prism. |
