If you haven't picked up Peter Filichia's Broadway Debates, or Mary Rodgers memoir Shy, you are missing two of the most wonderful contributions to theatre literature in recent memory.
Peter's book is incredibly detailed, and sometimes infuriating, which is the point. Not a page went by where I wasn't engrossed in his editorial commentary. His wealth of knowledge is extraordinary.
Mary Rodgers memoir is a dive into the intimate machinations of someone who grew up in the shadow of a genius. The candor is hilarious, intentionally. Jesse Green's contributions make the footnotes a work of art in themselves.
Have you read either of these books yet?
