It used to seem to me that fairly often out-of-town businessmen here in a group for some business reason would go to the theatre for fun. Two stories involving such groups.
At intermission of Biloxi Blues in late previews, one said, rather discontentedly, to the group: "Next time we go to a musical!"
After an ecstatic standing ovation for The Rise and Fall of Little Voice in previews: "Remember when we saw Blood Brothers in previews and we thought it would get good reviews but it didn't. Well, this time I'm sure. This will get good reviews!" I had liked it, but I thought it would not get good reviews. I almost said to him, "I wouldn't be so sure. I liked it, too, but I have a feeling the reviews won't be so good."
I also remember feeling just before the curtain came down that it would get an immediate, ecstatic, cheering standing ovation, and it did.
