I am pretty sure there were different versions of Music and the Mirror to match the voice types of different Cassies. If that is true, I am curious if the whole dance section was also transposed, or if they made their way back into the original key for the dance. That's a lenghty bit of dance music to have to transpose multiple times!
As far as Buckley (and others who have the chops like Elaine Paige) I always thought it odd they did not re-instate Patti's version of With One Look, that has the higher belt notes that were transposed down for Close. It seems simple. The original version already exists, orchestrated, and the song stands alone so there is no domino effect. I can understand why they might not have reverted to higher notes in Salome or other segments that are part of longer musical sequences. |
