Broadway has always been the home of commercial theater. Don't all the shows there exist to make money? If they don't, they close.
And is it all that binary? I believe artists can make creative and fulfilling shows AND make the money that sustains their careers.
We can agree or disagree about which ones are artistic or not, but I prefer a Broadway that offers all kinds of choices. |
