Totally delightful production. Cleverly adapted with memorable songs. Beautifully acted and sung by university students. I sometimes have a tough time following the story in Shakespeare plays that I didn't study in high school. However, this one is very accessible.
It's quite rare for me to hear songs a single time and then drive home humming them. However, last night I was quite taken by such Shaina Taub compositions as "The Man I'm Supposed to Be", "Imagine I'm Your Lover", "For Real", and many others. A very fine score.
The show runs through Sun., 11/20. If you're a fan of As You Like It and live in the Chicago area, I highly recommend this production. |
