I think the basic problem is that theatre is such an ephemeral artform. You can't capture what really makes it special, because, once it's done, it's done. So a museum will only be able to offer things like historic costumes or set models or old props. It may end up being neither for the die hards who already know the stuff the museum is presenting and aren't really interested nor for the casual theatregoers who doesn't care enough about such things to want to spend time and money in a museum dedicated to them.
I hope they can strike a balance. |
