| But shouldn’t producers be hiring extra understudies this time around? I know it is an extra expensive but probably less than closing a show for a few days. | |

| My understanding is that most Broadway shows have; not sure if that applies to off-Broadway (which can ill afford those extra costs regardless). But in any case it probably needs to be said that these are mostly all new plays, still in previews or, in the case of Downstate, having just opened the other day – so in all those cases, even if there was TRIPLE coverage for understudies as I think there was for something like The Lehman Trilogy, they presumably wouldn’t have had time to be rehearsed yet (I can’t speak for what happened with the revival of A Delicate Balance). |

| Because one of the actors was injured. So clearly this local theater doesn’t have understudies. | |

| Only ones masked up there were the guy selling drinks, two usherettes ( Janice and Debbe with the treble clef earrings ) and me! The only one not masked at "Becky Nurse Of Salem" was that wax statute! I've all my shots but not taking chances and just SO grateful to be out & about! |

| Does anyone know if Downstate played Saturday evening? My matinee was cancelled so I looked at their website to see if other performances were cancelled. Everything is available. At the top of the ticket purchase page, highlighted in yellow is a noted mask requirement. I don’t think that the notice was there yesterday, although I could have missed it. |

| It must have been. I saw the play in previews and the requirement was made explicit both on TDF's page and at the box office. | |

| We've been basically the only masked people at two shoes this week (Almost Famous and Kimberly Akimbo). Obviously it isn't foolproof, but I'd much rather wear a mask than even get a cold this time of year. | |
