All I did was laugh and smile. Except for when I teared up. And that happened twice. J.’s big number was an absolute showstopper. But it comes right on the heels (see what I did there?) of Kevin Del Aguila’s “Fly Mariposa” number. Del Aguila is giving the daffiest performance currently on Broadway — but there’s a simple, accessible and glorious heart in his performance. And his Mariposa is genuinely funny but also genuinely moving. His performance is one of the many jewels in the show’s crown.

A perfect show? No. A terrific one with a VERY funny book? Yes. Borle makes it looks easy. J. is the show’s heart. Del Aguila is terrific. Can’t rave enough. A joyful way to spend a cold afternoon.

Very enjoyable show. The score was kind of blah - not memorable - but I love Borle in anything. A fun, uplifting show with a self-acceptance message which teared me up.

I saw it last Wednesday and had a marvelous time, especially the tap numbers. The ensemble is tirelessly superb.

While I was glad to see the book solved many of the problems with Wilder and Diamond's original, it created a few of its own, though none enough to detract from the overall festivities.

The main thing that struck -- if not astonished -- me was how Shaiman was able to write a score that is tuneful, peppy, period-appropriate, perfect in the moment, and yet filled with tunes that went out of my head immediately after hearing them. The exception is the title number, which stayed with me, perhaps because I had already heard it. With enough exposure, the others might, too, but they were gone within moments.

I agree. The score is lots of fun yet not memorable. Strange for a team that wrong Hairspray and songs for Smash. I do hope the show catches on. The last musical that made laugh so much in previews was Something Rotten, also directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw.

Kevin Del Aguila was a delight whenever he popped up on the stage. His exuberant innocents won me over. I'm sure he'll get a lot of recognition from his expanded role as Osgood.

I am so glad that people are enjoying the show . I am looking forward to seeing it next month. Yet, I am surprised that no one has mentioned Adrianna Hicks at all. I thought this would propel her to some kind of stardom,

Hicks’ singing is magnificent. She brought the house down with her two rafter-rattling belt numbers and was effective with her quiet memory ballad. Her comedy isn’t quite specific enough yet, especially when she has to battle memories of Marilyn. But that may come with time.
