Theater Twitter? What now?

Do you use Twitter now for theater -- either to Tweet about theater or to read Tweets about theater?
Will you continue to use Twitter?

I have always found it disappointing when I've done searches for tweets about theater. The posts were mostly of the "Wow... just wow!" variety.

But personally, cancelling my twitter account five years ago paid off tremendously in increased peace of mind.

In the past year, yes, reluctantly I have resorted to visiting Twitter. Since Playbill Online is a shadow of its former self, with auto-starting videos that shout at you... And most of the other decent theatre sites have folded... Remember Martin Denton's Guide to New York Theatre? :(

So it's actually useful to consult the social media accounts of shows and theatre companies. It's painful to stoop to this, but what choice do we have?

Diep Tran is worth following, but yes, it would be great if theater Twitter found a new platform.

It will be interesting to see if anyone attempts to sell us the free speech blah blah now that Elon fired people who complained about him on Twitter.

I had a twitter account but really never used it. A few months ago I decided to delete it. I'm definitely not planning to go back now.

Theater Twitter is full of people with no experience and no knowledge, creating an insular network of gossip and half-truths. Most comments are either about who/what is problematic at the moment - or - hilariously inept economic discussions about why Broadway tickets should all be priced $15.
