I moved to the DC area not long before the pandemic, and I’m grateful that it hasn’t meant giving up the theatre I love so much. Some excellent companies here, lots of really provocative theatre, and I’ve been able to catch a number of plays that I missed when they were in NYC. (Last night I saw Alex Edelman’s show “Just For Us,” and next week I’m seeing “People, Places & Things.”)
Probably my favorite experience this year was “Heroes of the Fourth Turning” at Studio Theatre. I know I’m way behind in seeing it, but I was gripped throughout. A fascinating exercise in radical empathy.
I still get back to NY when I can, and I’ve loved the shows I’ve been able to see there too. Next week we’re doing a quick overnight and seeing “Kimberly Akimbo” and “Leopoldstadt.” Looking forward to both.
I’m grateful for all of you, for this site, for Ann and the others who administer it. Even through I’m now several hours away, I feel as close to Broadway as I was before because of all of you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Stay safe. |
