Ghee is not trans. Ghee may not believe in or identify in the binary gender construct as it were, but Ghee is in a biological male body, and as such, from a physical place has no choice but to begin the approach and/or process of any role (playing characters who are male, female, nonbinary, trans) as a male-bodied person, wherever they transform to from that.
If it helps, Ghee's character is not just Daphne, it is Jerry/Daphne. Ghee opens the show playing Jerry, a male-bodied person self identifying as male, who finds himself in and as Daphne. That is enough for me to say that character and the actor belong, at least for lack of options, in the Best Male Actor category. |
