| 1776 is it for this season? I believe Pictures from Home is a rental of Studio 54 and not a roundabout production. &Juliet is a commercial production. Nothing announced for AA theater once 1776 closes (and with those grosses so low, there is no extension). They used to have 3-5 broadway shows a season--just 1 this season? | |

| This revisal if 1776 was wildly unnecessary. The conceit and casting adds ZILCH to the story, other than an opportunity for them (the Roundabout and the cast) to hit us over the head with wokeness and self-righteousness. It’s absolute garbage. Nothing more and NOTHING less. An excuse for a “revival” that was unnecessary in inception, let alone execution. In short, the Roundabout screws it up again. |

| Dramedy's post was about a season schedule and you chose to hijack that and make this about what you like and don't like in a single production. Why? I have no problem with you starting a thread (it's pretty easy on here) and discussing the lack of merit in this production, if that's how you see it, or anything else. (It may be that you already have, I don't recall, or perhaps you have already hijacked other threads to make this same point. It wouldn't surprise me.) For the record, there are those who loved this production but I am not one of them. Hijacking? Nope, not a lover of that either. |

| I haven't seen this production. However, I can understand the goal whether it is achieved or not. As a non-Black person of color, I am very glad they gave this production a "shot". I despise phrases like "wokeness". As for self-righteous, look in the mirror. Your post is that. . |

| I’m actually all FOR wokeness. Except when I’m beaten about the ears and face with it and told its reason enough. And, sure, even then. But when it’s backed up by a dreadful production that loses its own point while trying to make an evening of it. But, sure. I’m the self-righteous one. Good to know, toots. |

| I imagine they thought 1776 would be a hit and are now scrambling to find programming for the spring. | |

| whether it's a hit or not, they can't just program one proper RTC show for the season. | |

| In the the spring but maybe not. It’s odd they have more broadway shows touring (1776 and soldiers play) than on broadway. | |

|
| It’s not an expensive set, so having two productions wouldn’t be too difficult - and if it was a Broadway hit, they would want to tour it anyway, so might as well have that ready to go. | |

| When I saw the show I kept hoping Jefferson would go into labor during The Egg. It would have been the coup de theatre to end all coup de theatres. | |

| What luxury casting to have Nancy Anderson as an understudy. She’s a remarkable actor and singer. | |
