| This Bway engagement is sheer madness - it's a terrible play that has now acquired tourist status comparable to the Crown Jewels where no one even bothers to think of it as a piece of theatre - it's more like a London mainstay whose major validation for itself long ago became its longevity. But dusted off and refashioned at Broadway prices? And so reactionary a text? They'd have done better to bring over Lucy Bailey's Witness for the Prosecution: this idea is lunacy. |
