You're technically correct. However, The Will Rogers Follies ran for 981 (official) performances and 33 previews for a total of 1014 showings. Therefore, the show was performed 1014 times at the Palace theatre.

Applause had a total run of 896 performances and 4 previews so the show was performed 900 times at the Palace. Bells Are Ringing ran for 924 performances at the Shubert and Alvin Theatres. Both shows were considered long running hits for their era.

You're also correct that The Will Rogers Follies did play more than 1,000 performances on Broadway, counting the previews. To this day it never occurs to me to include the previews in calculating the run of any Broadway show. This is because I'm so old I can remember the era when previews were relatively rare (they only started becoming common in the Sixties), and the theater reference books of that era never included previews in what was given as "the run." So I tend to forget about them. I believe Variety and I know IBDb still tally the previews and "the performances" separately.
