What a major talent she was. I was so looking forward to seeing her in a JCS tour in the 90s, but she pulled out early on.

I’ve never seen this clip (and didn’t know she made her professional debut on Broadway at age 8!) but have never seen “Hot Lunch” performed outside of the film. If you’re a fan of that soundtrack, it’s a treat!

Of note: being early, early Letterman, there’s almost no sound mix so we’re getting a nearly clean stand alone vocal… but the piano sounds hugely out of tube? Or old?
