NEW - "KPOP" - Talkin' Broadway Review
Posted by: T.B._Admin. 06:20 pm EST 11/27/22

James Wilson takes a look at KPOP at Circle in the Square Theatre:

As a genre, K-pop is a fusion of traditional Korean music, rock, pop, R&B, hip hop, and practically every other style you can name. Similarly, the Broadway production of KPOP, which open tonight at Circle in the Square Theatre, is its own hodge-podge amalgamation. It's part backstage musical, part jukebox-bio show, part multimedia extravaganza, and a large part arena-concert spectacle. The components do not cohere nearly as effortlessly as they do in the music the show celebrates, but what KPOP lacks in musical theatre artistry, the insouciant songs and an enormously talented cast make up for in giddy and exuberant entertainment.
