The film adaptation of the musical, "Matilda," also directed by the stage musical's director, Matthew Warchus, was #1 at the box office in the UK this weekend. I don't think it's getting a theatrical release in the US. It premieres on Netflix on Dec 25.
Does anyone know why the creators decided to have Miss Trunchbull be played by a woman (Emma Thompson)? Ralph Fiennes was originally in discussions for the part before Thompson was hired. |
