I was calling out behavior I find ridiculous and demeaning. Maybe in the sleepy echo chamber you live in, that's an unthinkable offense, but for the rest of us, piling on people of color is as illegitimate as applauding white people when their behavior/opinion/speech/action justifies criticism.
And, sorry to break it to you, but I don't think that just because you're a person from a marginalized community, what you have to say is automatically right and the discussion is over. But I do think it merits discussion, rather than derision, scorn, and a veeeery belated foot dragging to acknowledge that racism exists. If only we could have an actual, measured, intelligent discussion of the merits of the argument Lim was making, rather than dismissive character assassination. |
