Netflix announced that its run was terminating in advance, leading me to believe it's a distribution/streaming contractual issue, not the random decision of an executive who felt it wasn't worth a streaming licensing extension. I am unclear on the minutiae of platform runs, but have been told they're seldom open-ended.
After Netflix announced, I watched a final time. It's truly one of the best theater docs ever made. Some have groused that its focus on the cast circumvents analysis of the show. But it was not conceived to explicate the creative process, only to to zero in on this handful of young talents, how they coped with overnight "success" and "failure," the terms decidedly complex, poignantly so. The final section with Price always wrings tears. |
