Truly astounding that there are people who still think this way who are alive and functioning enough to even watch TV shows let alone go to plays.
Tired of seeing them? It must have been an exhausting last 71 years for those friends. (I Love Lucy premiered in 1951)
I do not think this represents any notable sliver of NYC theater going audiences or even broadway audiences. I don't think families of tourists with this kind of thinking tend to spend money on plays or musicals on Broadway, unless perhaps it is a jukebox of a singer they love or a big Disney show, but even then there will be interracial coupling and minority lead actors in all of them. I also think there's a VERY big difference between not being interested in a musical about KPOP and made up of KPOP style songs that does, of course, have an Asian cast... vs not being interested *because* the show has an asian cast (or any racial minority). |
