| Yes, I get that and I agree and support it. That's why my stance on this has entirely been that it was not racist, it was not a microaggression, but it was a word that should not have been used just out of respect for the reality, and I don't think Green thought about that and insisted to keep it, I think he didn't think about it, and that's why we need to think twice about something like that and many other things, and publications should think twice about how the editing process works before sending to print, both about fact-checking (unrelated to this review) and especially about reviews of shows about minority experiences and with minority casts.... just in case. Not in a censorship sense but in a respect and carefulness sense. There's not reason Green couldn't have found another way to describe the lighting. |
