It has been noted by several writers that Arthur gets a big speech at the end of the first act rather than a song (an underscored song). Had someone who was more of a singer been cast, would he have gotten a song?

Sometimes dialogue or a monologue can work better than a song. I'm not a fan of that monologue, but I'm not sure that Lerner could have come up with a good enough lyric.

One thing that is needed but cannot happen is a new establishing song for Lancelot. You can't cut "C'est Moi," but you also can't replace it because there is nothing to replace it with. Futzing with the book can do only so much once we hear that song.

Except for the little madigral, Lancelot gets only two songs. He gets less than Arthur. He is also arguably undermusicalized.
