| I'm sure there are many other regular theatergoers--Broadway "completists" or otherwise--who feel as you do. I'm one of them. I think the underlying causes of the trend are that Broadway has become too expensive, it is currently oversaturating its market (35 Broadway shows playing at once, as is currently the case, is a level rarely reached even 60 or 70 years ago), and the quality of the musical product has seriously declined, although the quality of the non-musical plays has not. |
