Her complaint about White ignorance was specifically about the show's failing to market itself well to BIPOC audiences... which is a common complaint in New York. In order to sell BIPOC work to BIPOC audiences, it is helpful/necessary to have people from BIPOC communities handling at least some of the outreach (marketing, engagement, etc.).
Perhaps that still would not have been enough to help the show succeed, but it would have given it a better chance. |
