| Most of us agree that the use of "squint" was unfortunate at very least, even though I agree it doesn't brand Green as racist. But he should have realized the word could be a trigger in context. The specific word wasn't necessary. The same way one would want to avoid, say, an offhand use of "lynch" in a review of a black show. Green is a professional writer, which means he has exact control over the words he chooses in his writing. He simply didn't think. |
