Yes, I know that from what Seth wrote elsewhere, but I would have to strongly disagree.
And I don't think she saw the original production. I wonder if she saw the first London production, a production with young people (from the Guildhall School) that was critically well received. There was interest from people like Cameron Mackintosh and Bill Kenwright in moving it to a commercial run but the authors refused because they wanted to rewrite it.
So I do wonder what productions with young people she has actually seen. I'm not so sure the revision would work well with young people. For me the original did. I'm not so sure that the revision will ever work for me with any cast. |
