Well, sure, but that was post-Feldstein. At that point, they might have been willing to entertain the idea of someone they didn't want originally, someone that the zeitgeist seemed to collectively decide would be better than the person they chose.
I seriously doubt that if Michele had been auditioned originally, the producers would have still gone with Feldstein.
