For all the talk of producing art from asians about asians... it's rarely if ever mentioned that the music and lyrics are CO-WRITTEN by 2 people, a Korean-American writer and a white American writer.
It's not as if it's the "RAP" comparison with a score by Kendrick Lamar or even Eminem. (It's more like co-written by pre-ITH Lin Manuel Miranda and a white guy who'd written a not great traditional musical that had no rap or anything to do with rap.)
And Jason Kim is a Korean writer, born in Korea... and his book, or at least the broadway re-write he did of his original book, has been by far the most criticized aspect of the musical. |
