For me either, so far. VERY much including this production as filmed in London.
The show doesn't work with adults because it was definitively not written for adults to be the cast, and was specifically conceived with young people in mind. I don't just mean how it's written or the tone of what's written, but how it was conceived and executed dramatically speaking, as a play and as a piece of theater... like the difference between "Our Time" with actual young people vs adults.
Not only is it vastly more effective in its original version, whatever flaws there may be may be (as with so many other shows), but I'd go as far as to say it is largely not effective anymore in the new version. |
