Her essay is so heartbreaking. I enjoyed the show, and believe it should have run longer. However, she has mistaken her authenticity for quality. The fact remains, the show is not very good from any way you look at it despite its heart on its sleeve and its unwavering commitment to authenticity. Luna is amazing and if you missed her performance you’ve missed a great one. But she has added much more to very thin material.
I would argue Hamilton is authentic, but it’s also bloody brilliant. Authenticity is not quality. That is really hard to discover. How fortunate she was to at least get her vision to Broadway! |
