What exactly is the Tony committee's definition of "revival"? I know they use the phrase "classic play" but how is that determined? Is it by the number of different New York and regional productions (in the case of Riverside) following the off-Broadway debut prior to its bow on debut? Do you know approximately how many different productions there have been since it debuted at the Atlantic in July, 2014?
KingSpeed compares it to Choir Boy but all of that show's most prominent regional productions featured many of the same cast members as the off-Broadway debut. There was an obvious progression toward a Broadway production. I don't see that with Riverside. |
