It's one of my favorite McGlinn recordings, along with Songs of New York and Broadway Showstoppers. Perhaps this is because I have so little attachment to the Berkeley movies. I like the songs, and those orchestrations are great, and the performers generally have a good sense of period style. And it's one of Ann Morrison's few recordings, and she is perfect.
I suspect it was left out because it's not material from stage musicals. Even the 42nd Street numbers use recreations of the film orchestrations, not the stage orchestrations. |
