I signed into Tik Tok via my Facebook account and downloaded the 15 minutes for free. I couldn't take more than a few minutes of the music. Apparently it's not for me, although I must admit some of the guys are pretty cute.
About 45% of my family is Asian-American, half Korean and half Middle East Asian. Regarding the Korean side, my two nieces, my nephew, and my sister-in-law have no interest in k-pop. However, their ages range from 42 to late 70's.
My nephew Kenny just told me that a couple of his teenage kids like it, but he wouldn't pay to see a Broadway show like K-POP.
My niece Lisa is into theatre. In fact, she is one of the people who introduced me to All That Chat back in '97 because she wanted to see The Lion King on Broadway. Today she likes very conventional plays and musicals. She lives in a Chicago suburb near me. In recent years we've seen movies like Crazy Rich Asians, Parasite, Minari, and stuff like that together. |
