See link. Not sure if Ms. Nottage's entire thoughts are here, but "young audiences" can't necessarily afford to go to a Broadway show. Why? Unions is one answer. (I'm pro-union.) Another is, per the late Charles Ludlam, real estate greed. Is Ms. Nottage going to give up her percentage so Broadway can be more affordable? Probably not.
About KPOP, what I've heard is that if it was just the songs and light show, etc., without the book portion, it would be a lot of fun. Jordan E. Cooper (out of drag) and Marchant Davis from AIN'T NO MO' look very charming. Hopefully we'll see them in something else. Both of these shows, like A STRANGE LOOP, probably should have stayed Off Bway. If commercial Off Bway can still sustain. |
