What kind of King Lear madness is this, to blame non-profits for the death of commercial Off-Broadway? I know that you don’t like them, but they are not responsible for the excessive cost of producing theater in America, and the very fact that they aren’t dependent on ticket sales alone is the reason why they can continue to produce theater… including shows that make their way to commercial productions on Broadway.

To go even further, the primary reason that Broadway can be a home for new American plays is because of the non-profit sector either producing plays in Broadway houses our nurturing plays that make the leap.
