That's a good question to which I don't know the answer. I don't think it was mentioned long ago when this was written about in The Sondheim Review, and I must admit to feeling too lazy at the moment to go searching for it. I suppose it's possible that section was simply cut.
Of course, I have no idea what they're going to do in this production. Just wanted to mention that the question had come up at least once in the past, and Sondheim provided a change.
