I was in row B of the balcony yesterday afternoon, which at the Shubert is a terrific seat (I saw the Midler Dolly from up there). I paid $52 on TDF for what is usually a $79 ticket*. I was fine with it, but understand that the 2nd row and the 7th are different viewing experiences.

For what it's worth: I will always argue that front balcony in this theater is far better than rear mezz, with that overhang creating vertical claustrophobia. But I not not a center/rear mezz theatergoer in houses with a balcony. I find it oppressive. I was in the penultimate row of the (first) mezz for Leopoldstadt -- a TKTS ticket -- and found it manageable only because I was so invested in the play. I would've been happier in the balcony above me.

Anyone else have a rear mezz phobia in balcony houses? I think they're terrible seats, and have since sitting in the rear mezz in DC's National as a kid and teen. My parents loved them, and we always sat there. I think they're the most overpriced in most B'way houses.

*Update: my seats, B21-23, are $94 on 12/28 at 2 p.m. Yesterday was a good deal. But to my point elsewhere: this holiday week matinee is only about 1/4 - 1/3 sold. This show has a serious advance problem, sadly. They just are selling tickets.
