I can see a case for Camelot winning if it's great... the show needing a "revival" and getting a literal reviving, and it working, would be something the Tony voters would really get behind to award.
But don't forget that Sweeney is a masterpiece, and neither revival of it won a Tony, even the raved about Doyle production everyone was sure would win Best Revival. Interestingly, Company, a much lesser musical (still a great musical) than Sweeney has won Best Revival twice! With Sondheim passing, though, I think there will be even more push to bring his masterpiece another major award. Bart Sher has only won a Tony once, so it's very conceivable that if Camelot is great they'll give it to his direction. |
