I really love the Tempest production from Stratford, Ontario, in 1982, which was televised and which I am linking below. Len Cariou is both a majestic and intensely neurotic Prospero, obsessed with the wrongs that have been done to him and more than a bit tempted to revenge rather than mercy. When he chooses mercy, thanks to Ariel, it is so moving. And the relationship between Prospero and Ariel, played by Ian Deakin, is so intense, so rich. And the production really goes to town with the masque, which some productions mostly cut.

Anyway, it's just so beautifully cast and played all around. The link was posted here a few months ago, and I think it's worth posting again.
