| It will be fascinating to see how this show fares at the box office. It hasn't broken even in any of its 6 preview weeks, and looking thru the houses thru the holidays, sales are very very weak still. The Friday night before New Year's sees less than half of orchestra sold - and virtually no seats at all sold in Mezzanine and Balcony. Looking ahead into January, the advance sales look marginally better. This will either build into or hit - or not. I think we have all heard a lot of mixed word of mouth, which is not necessarily a bad sign but not a good sign either. Time will tell. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD - a play not a musical - was regularly grossing over $1.5 million. SOME LIKE IT HOT just broke $700,000 for the first time. |
