| "Matilda" was one of the most experimental musicals ever to play Broadway. I saw in once a year for four years, and its extremes never failed to surprise me. I loved it, but it was disturbing. "Matilda The Musical" is another accomplishment - not as thoroughly strange as the stage show, which never seemed to take place in the real world - but definitely a major accomplishment. It was inevitable that a lot of good songs would be cut (about half, I think), but you'd have to know the stage musical or OBC recording to know. |
