Below, AlanScott (whose posts I really enjoy reading) mentioned "all-time great shows" - and I'm really curious what the consensus might be on shows that really are perfection with regards to book, score, etc. I realize this is very much subjective, but it would be interesting to hear everyone's thoughts. The touring production of My Fair Lady is currently nearby, and I've opted out because it is Non-Equity and the prices are far too high to be paying what they're asking. But I've never seen it onstage so I've been second guessing myself. My first show was CATS when I was about 10, don't remember much, but after moving to NYC in 2000 I've seen countless shows that have been produced. Shows that were revivals include Hello Dolly, King and I, Cabaret, Chicago, Oklahoma, Hair, JCS, WSS....and perhaps more but that's what I can think of now. Having never seen Gypsy, Guys and Dolls, Music Man, South Pacific, (just to name a few) I just got to thinking what I've really missed out in my love for theater. |
