| I think one of the most prominent examples is the Hal Prince staging of Evita. I think his work verges on authorship for the ways it fills in blanks and fleshes out the story and it's just so...commanding of your attention. Add to that the brilliant scenic and lighting elements and you have something pretty spectacular. I have never seen a non-Prince production really deliver in the same way, and I have seen MANY, including the Broadway revival and the recent Encores production. |
