The idea of the category is understandable; the logistics are a total mess and were quickly recognized. Among the problems:

1. Nominators would need to see a bunch of additional shows. Note that, even though it may seem like it here, the category was not Best Replacement in a High Profile Show (or Best High Profile Replacement).
2. Voters would need to see all nominees.
3. Producers would need to pay for all of the above.
4. There would be this weird situation where shows not eligible for anything else would suddenly be reinvolved in the Tonys.
